IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training
(QCF) 12 Credits.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a National UK Award for those who want to gain a qualification as a teacher, tutor or trainer. It prepares you to teach in the Life Long Learning Sector in the UK and abroad. It will even benefit as student going on a gap year as he or she will be able to teach English as a foreign language in a wide range of countries.
It can enhance your opportunities to make some extra income as you can teach your expertise knowledge to others. This can be done via evening classes or you can join a team at your local college part time. This Award is the minimal requirement for teaching in Further Education Colleges.
There is one mandatory unit ‘Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training’ and two optional units ‘Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training’ and ‘Understanding assessment in education and training’
These units will give you a sound foundation for teaching and a grasp of to what standards you need to teach in order for quality learning to take place.
The qualification has 49 guided learning hours which will contain of 3 study days and one workshop day when there will be micro teaching sessions and completion of your portfolio Apart from the 32 hours of face to face teaching required, there will also be tutorials with your tutor and days of supervised study so you can build your portfolio or gain teaching experience by shadowing qualified teachers/trainers. Extra 1-1 support is also available as well as alternative assessment methods!
